Those "Instant" Successes

Many times an unknown person does something spectacular and suddenly becomes a hero, a public figure, an overnight succes, the object of much envy. Let's explore this "overnight success" syndrome, which almost always occurs over time.

Several years ago Gary Spiess from White Lake, Minnesota, did an incredible thing. He sailed his ten-foot boat across the Atlantic Ocean in just fifty-four days. Most of us can only imagine what he endured to complete his fifty-four-day ordeal, but suddently, the whole world knew who he was.

What is the real story" Did he just have a good idea, implement it, and "luck" into celebrity status? Gary worked, planned, sacrificed, and studied for three years, to build his boat. He committed not only his money but also 100 percent of his spare time for three solid years. He had to chart his course and plan every detail, including maximum use of his space and the proper food, clothing, and water to carry.

Once the trip began, so did the danger. The most dangerous and difficult part was fighting the violent seas of the Atlantic Ocean. The seas often combined with a driving, bitterly cold rain, which chilled him to the bone. By the time he reached England, he was so brutally battered by the cruel sea that his entire body was black and blue. Yes, he had his day in the sun, but it's safe to say that he sacrificed and worked in order to receive his rewards.

Most of us are not interested in doing anything of that nature, but it's safe to say that if we're going to accomplish anything of significance, and particularly if we're going to maintan that significance, long hours of planning and even more hours of hard work are required. It's also safe to say it's worth it becouse the effort is temporary, but the satisfaction and rewards can be long-lasting.

A man loaned his best friend five thousand dollars for plastic surgery. Unfortunately, he will never recover it becouse now he can't recognize him.

She by Elvis Costello

She
May be the face I can't Forget,
A trace of pleasure or regret,
May be may treasure or the price I have to pay,
She may be the song that summer sings,
May be the chill that autum brings,
May be a hundred different things,
Within the measure of a day.

She
May be the beauty or the beast,
May be the famine of the feast,
May turn each day in a heaven or ea hell,
She may be the mirror of my dreams,
A smile reflected in a stream,
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell.

She
Who always seem so happy in a crowd.
Whoes eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry.
She may be the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows in the past.
That I'll remember till the day i dye.

She
May be the reason I survive
The why and where fore I'm alive
The one I'll care for through the rough and ready years
Me I'll take her laughter and her tears
And Make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is

She, she, she

Ikan Garap @ Kelah

As I mention on my previous post that I went back to my father birth place and this is the reason. It's the time for fish harvesting at Kg. Sunsui, about 25km form Kota Marudu town. I never join the 'magalis' (a way of catching fish using fish nets where the net are moved slowly to trap the fish) at the Tagal or Bobon (restricted river area for catching fish) and had always been a very interesting yearly activity. But sadly our catch for that day is - well what should I said - a disapointment. But for me it is an intresting experiance to 'hunt' the 'Garap & Peransa'. And here are some of the moment that i catch that day....

"Kerapu" & Sweet and Sour...

What a fish... with 2.8kg weight and still alive, do you believe it only cost rm30?.... Maybe it's not so cheap in Sabah but compare to KL i bet you can't get it with that price. Ok.. actualy i want to share with you what i did to this poor fish...hehehe.. Well my first plan when i bought this fish is to ask my big brother to steam it coz he is the best man when comes to steamed food. But sadly i won't be around that night till next day (balik kg Bapa di Sunsui) and my big brother is also not around (he went to kk). So I have to freezed the fish till I return from my outing. Scince it's not fresh anymore i decided to change the menu and the best option is 'Sweet and Sour'. This is the first time I cook Sweet and Sour using fish meat as i usually using Chicken meat.
Ingredients for the Sweet & Sour Souse:
3 tablespoon of plum souse,
6 tablespoon of chili souse,
1 tabblespoon of chicken stock,
1 tablespoon of red chili paste,
3 tommatos (slice quartly),
2 tablespoons lime juice ,
1 cucumber (slice to needed size),
1 onion (slice quartly),
3 shallots (bawang kecil) choped,
2 table spoon of oil,
100ml water,
salt,
suggar.

Ingredients for the frieds fish meat;
800g of slice fish meat,
4 white eggs,
fries flour (tepung kfc).

Method:

Fried Fish
First deep fried the fish meat (slice to needed size). To fried it you must pour the white eggs into the fish meat and slowly mixed it using hand. Than put the fish meat slice by slice (one by one) into the fries flour till it fully covered by the flower. Than you can start fried. After finished fried the fish meat than you can prepared the souse.

Souse:
Heated the oil to fried the choped shallots. Than put in the plum & chili souce, chicken stock, slice onion and blended red chili. Mix it for 2 to 4 minutes. Than pour in the water and put in the slice tommatos and cucumber. Than put about half tablespoon of salt (secukup rasa), one tablespoon of suggar and 2 tablespoon of lime juice. Mix it slowly and let it cook for 10 more minutes.

Now you can pour the Sweet & Sour Souse to the fried fish and mix it slowly. Than the last action will be... apa lagi makan la...arghhh..sadap..(hahaha..puji diri sendiri)

Ohh.. forgot to tell what happen to the fish head..well my brother (pic) is the man for curry's foods so he masak kari kepala ikan (Fish Head Curry) la... another menu that I cook is Tom Yam Soup .... arghh tell you we all smiling kekenyangan that nite..

This What We Call a HERO...
